The association between academic field of study and resilience was considered a novel finding. Two explanations were proposed for field-of-study differences in resilience: differential selection of students at entry, or differential lockdown teaching organisation and support by field. Institutional or system-level resilience may influence individual student resilience. Students in arts, humanities, and languages had higher odds of low resilience compared with students in sports, medical sciences, science, or technology (OR 1.4, 95% CI 1.0–1.8).
