Adrenal Function Testing

The saliva ASI maps the full diurnal cortisol curve using multiple samples across the day. The DUTCH test provides diurnal cortisol curves and hormone metabolite data from dried urine samples. Serum cortisol provides limited insight on its own because it captures only a single time point. A systolic blood pressure drop greater than 20 mmHg after standing is described as a sign of adrenal dysfunction. DHEA-S is presented as a simple accessible starting marker for adrenal function. Failure of the pupil to contract and hold contraction for two minutes is described as a sign of adrenal dysfunction.
