Digital tools may help reduce the gap between service availability and actual service use. Digital health implementation in Africa remains uneven, with many interventions isolated, unscaled, or poorly integrated into health information systems. Digital access and health information system disparities may influence whether interventions are equitable, acceptable, affordable, and effective. Digital health initiatives are geographically uneven, with urban and better-resourced areas receiving more implementations than rural and peri-urban areas. African countries are increasingly adopting digital solutions to improve HIV prevention programme reach and quality.
