Fewer nalmefene patients had VAS pain score 4 or higher at the recovery endpoint and at 24 hours postoperatively. Nalmefene did not significantly change the number of rescue sufentanil administrations required in the PACU. Rescue sufentanil could be given when VAS pain score was 4 or higher in the PACU. The 1-hour postoperative VAS threshold outcome was not statistically significant. Pain outcomes did not show loss of analgesia with nalmefene.
