Most existing anticoagulant drug interaction interventions rely on passive alerts or backend monitoring systems. Population-level bleeding estimates often lack enough patient-level detail for individualized clinical decisions. Between about 4% and 7% of patients receiving oral anticoagulants are prescribed NSAIDs at a given time. Bleeding risk increases when anticoagulants are combined with medications such as NSAIDs or SSRIs. Anticoagulants prevent thromboembolic events but increase internal bleeding risk, especially gastrointestinal bleeding.
