Aphasia

Problems related to under-documented PPI costs can be amplified for people with aphasia after stroke. A PPI partner with lived experience of stroke and aphasia, representing the Cyprus Stroke Association, contributed to developing the research topic and planning dissemination strategies. The PAOLI framework is used to support meaningful and independent involvement of people with aphasia in the review process. Meaningful PPI in stroke and aphasia research can require additional resources such as communication support, accessible materials, specialist facilitation, and time for relationship-building. Communication accessibility needs for people with aphasia may require aphasia-friendly materials, assistive communication technologies, specialist facilitation, adapted meeting formats, and additional time.
