ATTAIN-MAINTAIN was a phase 3b randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial at 29 sites in the United States. The study screened 400 participants and enrolled 376 between September 13, 2024, and November 21, 2025. Eligible adults had completed SURMOUNT-5 on study treatment and had lost at least 5% of body weight by week 72. The two prior-therapy cohorts were treated and analyzed independently. The trial enrolled participants who had completed SURMOUNT-5 after 72 weeks of tirzepatide or semaglutide injectable therapy.
