Automated Pathway Curation

The main evaluation gap is between extracting individual text events and producing a connected biological pathway. Automated systems can recover many relevant event fragments under relaxed matching but do not reconstruct the curated pathway as a connected model. Automated pathway curation is motivated by the inability of manual curation to keep up with biomedical publication volume. Automated pathway curation needs improvements in species normalization, complex extraction, graph composition, and biological abstraction levels.
