Babesia Symptoms

Babesia can disrupt red blood cell integrity and cause petechiae and bruising. Severe or untreated Babesia can lead to jaundice, falling blood pressure, liver failure, and death. Undulating fever, profuse sweating, and air hunger are the most distinctive symptom cluster for Babesia. Persistent nausea, headaches, fatigue, alternating chills and sweats, petechiae, and bruising can occur in Babesia. Air hunger in Babesia is described as labored breathing rather than wheezing or chest tightness. Chest pain and palpitations may accompany Babesia-related breathing symptoms.
