Balint groups are presented as a relationship-centred alternative to common individual coping interventions. Balint groups are structured case-based discussions focused on the doctor-patient relationship and emotional aspects of clinical work. The proposed mechanisms of Balint groups include catharsis and perspective-taking. Eligible interventions must be explicitly based on Balint theory or method. Modified Balint interventions can be included when they preserve core Balint components.
