Bar Soap

Standard bar soap is far more alkaline than the skin acid mantle. Bar soap can raise skin pH for one to three hours after washing. Aggressive cleaning can worsen persistent odor by dismantling the skin defenses that normally control bacteria. Fragrance-free cleansers labeled pH 4 to 5 are presented as compatible with the acid mantle.
