Base uses saliva testing for cortisol because it captures circadian variation that a single blood draw would miss. Operating in New York requires Base to meet additional state requirements, including physician involvement in data review. Base supports at-home finger-prick sample collection and also partners with Quest Diagnostics for users who prefer venous blood draws. Base can be paid for using HSA and FSA dollars and was pursuing coverage conversations with Aetna and CVS Health. Base resolves the root cause of symptoms over a two-to-three month period using staged, prioritized testing.
