The study found no association between drug use and later criminality, but found moderate relationships from criminality to later drug use. Tobacco use was associated with increased alcohol consumption, especially dual use of cigarettes and snus. Questionnaires collect information on physical activity, diet, alcohol use, tobacco use, mental health, sleep quality, and well-being. The dietary analysis focuses on high sugar, salt, fat, processed food intake, and low fruit and vegetable intake. The protocol hypothesizes that socio-demographic factors influence cardiovascular knowledge, awareness, and adolescent initiation of cardiovascular risk behaviours. Early alcohol inebriation at age 13 or younger was linked to initiating illegal drug use the following year. Regular substance use was associated with negative family cohesion, lower perceived socioeconomic status, and peer and personality factors.
