If the bottom knee cannot lift without compensation, the person receives a score of 3. A correct bottom-knee lift should produce sensation in both the bottom-side inner thigh and outside hip. In the demonstrated setup, correct bottom-knee sensation includes the left adductor region and left outside hip, including anterior glute medius. The final movement step is lifting the bottom-side knee. Treatment for a score of 3 should focus on frontal-plane adduction and may include additional posterior hip stretching.
