A focused comparison found the lowest reuse among the most distant branch pairs. Inter-reuse occurs when the same breakpoint vertex is used by rearrangements on two different branches of a phylogenetic tree. Intra-reuse occurs when the same vertex is used by two different rearrangements on the same branch. Real mammalian data showed high breakpoint reuse between nearby branches and low reuse between distant branches.
