The exercise uses a cable system to generate forward pull and a sliding surface to guide the rear leg backward during the hinge. Most of the body weight is kept on the leg opposite the sliding leg, which acts as the primary working leg. The cable handle is held in one hand, and the leg on the same side as that hand is placed on the slider. The Cable Slider Hamstring RDL is designed to strengthen the hamstrings while serving as a progression toward the single-leg Romanian deadlift.
