Canal:VB ratios were smaller in NZE children than in Māori children and were significantly different at C7. The study calculated canal-to-vertebral body ratios from measured canal and vertebral body dimensions. The canal:VB ratio decreased with increasing age from C3 to C7. The decline in canal:VB ratio reflects stronger vertebral body growth than canal expansion. Ratio-based interpretation may be preferable to evaluating canal diameter alone.
