Cancer Genetic Testing

Germline genetic testing can identify pathogenic variant carriers and enable earlier screening, prevention, and targeted therapy access. Overall, 70% of the analytical sample consented to testing after pretest counselling. Clinical genetic testing uptake remains limited worldwide despite its benefits. A single cancer genetic test in Singapore costs around SGD 1,000, and there are no government subsidies for testing costs. Testing was recommended for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, Lynch syndrome, known familial pathogenic variants, and universal tumour screening contexts.
