Both LCA and LASSO scores were strongly associated with cancer risk when treated as continuous variables. Both scores provided higher net benefit than investigating all patients from a 4% cancer risk threshold onward. At a 6% probability threshold, both scores reduced unnecessary interventions by about 30%. Using a binary cut-off of at least 2 points identified patients with markedly elevated cancer odds for both scores. The scores have not yet been validated in primary care settings or GI-led RDC services. The scores are intended to complement, not replace, clinical judgement.
