Physical activity is recommended for cancer survivors to preserve activities of daily living, quality of life, and survival. In breast cancer, a dose-response relationship between physical activity and five-year all-cause mortality was reported, with mortality dropping from 11% with no exercise to about 3% with 150 or more minutes per week. The population of cancer survivors in developed countries is growing due to ageing, earlier detection, and improved treatment. Cancer survivors may experience physical impairment, fatigue, and pain as consequences of cancer or its treatment. Japan's National Cancer Center estimated nearly one million new cancer cases and over 384,000 cancer deaths in 2021. The final analytic cohort comprised 39,435 cancer survivors drawn from 13 Japanese municipalities.
