Evaluating only two trials is insufficient to represent the full diversity of academic-sponsored trial types, and results cannot be assumed to generalise to other profiles. Prospective carbon footprint estimation at the trial design phase is recommended, rather than relying solely on retrospective assessment. Embedding carbon hotspot awareness into trial planning around conference travel, CRA monitoring strategies, and CTU energy use is the most actionable path to reducing environmental impact.
