Regular physical activity reduces cardiovascular mortality, recurrent cardiac events, and hospitalisation, and can improve quality of life in people with ischaemic heart disease. Ischaemic heart disease affected 18.6% of the cohort, with 93% of those patients also having multimorbidity. The study defined STEMI using chest pain duration plus ST-segment elevation thresholds in contiguous ECG leads. In this cohort of 1863 STEMI patients, 1-year all-cause mortality was 13.6%, with 254 deaths recorded.
