The review found several validated informal carer quality-of-life measures but did not identify one preferred measure. Stakeholders living with dementia emphasized that care quality was not entirely tied to formal qualifications. Formal carer outcomes appeared less extensively measured than some patient outcomes. Ten validated scales were identified for measuring quality of life among informal carers of people living with dementia. The Moral Distress in Dementia Care Survey instrument was the only validated scale identified for formal carers’ morale.
