Carotid Atherosclerosis

The study concluded that carotid atherosclerotic burden was not higher in the CBI group. Mean carotid plaque score was similar in participants with and without CBI. Carotid ultrasound measures did not significantly differ between participants with and without CBI, except for physical activity as a separate factor. Clinical stroke exclusions had greater carotid plaque scores than participants without clinical stroke. The carotid plaque score quantified atherosclerotic burden across carotid segments.
