Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity is described as the gold-standard non-invasive measure of arterial stiffness. Earlier meta-analyses found cfPWV to be an independent cardiovascular risk predictor in general and clinical populations. In this study, cfPWV values were log-transformed and standardized within each cohort before pooling. cfPWV can be assessed cheaply and easily with minimal training.
