Visual impairment is common among children with cerebral palsy. About 10% of children with cerebral palsy have severe visual impairment, and another 40% have milder visual perceptual impairments. No randomised controlled trial has tested a specific cerebral visual impairment intervention in the first year of life. In cerebral palsy, visual problems are most often linked to post-chiasmatic visual pathway or visual cortex injury. Early visual impairment can affect motor, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
