Hispanic patients had a 1.31-fold higher prevalence of CLD within the IBD cohort. Patients with IBD and CLD were older on average than those with IBD alone, with mean ages of 50.24 versus 44.45 years. Prior studies have shown a 33% higher risk of CLD and a 35% increased risk of advanced fibrosis in the lowest income group compared with the highest. Depression and anxiety were more prevalent among patients with both IBD and CLD than among those with IBD alone. In-hospital mortality was nearly three times higher in patients with IBD and CLD than in those with IBD alone (0.77% vs 0.27%). 4.11% of hospitalised adults with IBD had a secondary diagnosis of chronic liver disease.
