Organic versions of ultra-processed foods have essentially the same sugar, starch, and seed oil content as their conventional counterparts. The argument that cleaning up the food supply will address chronic disease is partially correct but insufficient because carbohydrate load remains the primary driver. No clinical trials show that removing food additives reverses chronic disease. Removing food dyes, additives, and preservatives from ultra-processed food does not meaningfully address chronic disease.
