Clinical Guidelines for Older Adults

Existing frameworks such as STOPP/START and BEERS criteria address polypharmacy in older adults generally but do not incorporate adaptations specific to sensory impairment. No guidelines or clinical resources were found to be specifically tailored to prescribing for older people with sensory impairment. Prescribers managing patients over 80 on ten or more medications had no integrating resource and had to draw on multiple condition-specific guidelines in parallel.
