Mycotoxin illness produces vague multi-system symptoms and is described as chronically underdiagnosed. Brain fog is reported more frequently among mold-exposed patients than controls. Hanging was the most common enacted attempt method despite being less frequently reported as the planned method; laceration was the most common planned approach. Mycotoxins consistently feature immunosuppression despite chemical diversity. An additional 14.9% of the cohort displayed self-injury with unclear intent, underscoring the need for thorough clinical assessment. Sudden anxiety or panic attacks without prior psychiatric history are presented as an early warning sign. 77.1% of index STB presentations occurred in the emergency department, and 50.4% of the full cohort were hospitalised at that visit.
