Cognitive Assessment

Cognitive impairment was defined as a composite score of 14 or lower. A lower cognitive score represented poorer cognition. Cognition was measured with a population-based battery adapted from the University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study. Five domains contributed to a composite cognitive score ranging from 0 to 43.
