The article presents grass-fed beef and pasture-based meat as preferred over industrial meat. The critique of industrial meat is based on both taste and the effects of production inputs on the food system. Industrial meat is framed as something to avoid because of feed, toxins, antibiotics, and production practices. Grain feeding, rapid fattening, antibiotics, and feed quality are treated as health considerations. Animals raised for commercial meat production are given antibiotics, and residues from those antibiotics pass to the consumer. Commercial dairy and eggs carry the same antibiotic residue risk as commercial meat.
