Community Engagement

GHR's transnational and cross-cultural nature makes stakeholder engagement important for relevance, cultural appropriateness, and implementation. Community involvement is identified as crucial for sustained vector control and behavioural change. Local and context-specific data helped stakeholders recognize the relevance of findings and build urgency for change. Community collaboration helped the clinic build trust, referrals, local resource awareness, and sensitivity to events affecting clients. Inclusive multidisciplinary HTA committees are intended to promote transparency, equity, and shared ownership. Broad stakeholder participation is associated with reduced resistance to policy change and increased acceptance of HTA-based decisions. The journal sample established a 23% baseline for stakeholder engagement reporting. The review assesses community engagement using eight community-based participatory research elements adapted from Viswanathan et al.’s AHRQ report. The degree of engagement is assessed with Harvard’s continuum of inform, consult, involve, collaborate, and empower.
