Competency Assessment in Medical Education

MSF promotes a culture of accountability and fairness by distributing evaluation across multiple perspectives rather than concentrating it in one authority figure. MSF can surface performance blind spots that are invisible to a single supervisor. Receiving input from peers, supervisors, nursing staff, and patients provides a more balanced and comprehensive view of performance than traditional single-source methods. Traditional single-source evaluation, typically conducted solely by an attending consultant, covers a narrower range of competencies than MSF.
