Complex Intervention Research Phases

Evaluation determines whether an intervention achieves intended outcomes and examines effectiveness, mechanisms, adverse impacts, and context interactions. Implementation aims to increase uptake and impact of successfully tested innovations and includes outcomes such as acceptability, adoption, costs, and sustainability. Development or identification involves designing and planning an intervention, including conceptualisation, stakeholder involvement, and theory construction. Feasibility explores whether a full evaluation is possible and worthwhile.
