Three knowledge items were removed in exploratory IRT because of poor discrimination, extreme difficulty, or significant misfit. The retained 14 knowledge items supported a single latent knowledge construct in the confirmatory sample. The knowledge scale performed reliably across a broad ability range, especially at low to moderate knowledge levels. The knowledge domain was analysed as a unidimensional factual construct using the two-parameter logistic IRT model.
