COVID-19 vaccine uptake was very high for the primary course and first booster among SIREN participants. COVID-19 second booster coverage declined substantially in the SIREN cohort. Early COVID-19 vaccination was perceived by healthcare workers as protection against an immediate and serious threat. Perceived need for additional COVID-19 booster doses declined as disease severity seemed reduced and personal experience with infection accumulated. Concerns about serious vaccine adverse events contributed to reluctance toward further COVID-19 boosters, especially among younger staff.
