Data sharing can enhance transparency, reproducibility, collaboration, and efficiency. The oversight committee considered secure data environments and federated learning as possible frameworks for third-party data sharing. FAIR stands for Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse. The FAIR Principles provide a framework for managing and stewarding biomedical research data. The protocol is ethics-approved version 5.0 dated 18 July 2025 and the study is pre-results. Quality controls exclude duplicate entries and responses with implausibly short or long completion times. Walking activity data are collected with an activity tracker and daily electronic walking diary entries. The study uses an electronic data capture system for primary data collection and management. The electronic data capture system records an audit trail with user ID and timestamp for data changes. A coordinating-centre data manager remotely monitors data entry and protocol adherence. The research team received the dataset only after opt-out checks and full deidentification.
