The recommended amount of Dead Sea salt for a bath is half a cup; more is not better due to high concentration. Dead Sea salt has established use and some clinical backing for treating skin conditions, joint pain, and systemic conditions. The Dead Sea is a landlocked salt lake roughly 10 times saltier than the ocean, yet its salt is paradoxically low in sodium. Dead Sea salt contains only approximately 8% sodium, compared to roughly 90% in sea salt and 98% in table salt. Approximately 60% of Dead Sea salt's composition is magnesium and potassium combined. Dead Sea salt is chemically unsuitable for dietary use because its mineral ratios are incompatible with regular internal consumption. Dead Sea salt is applied externally rather than consumed, primarily through mud baths and bathtub soaks.
