Using the DECIDE-SR model helps tailor each participant's involvement to their needs and preferences. The Dementia Leaders evaluation is presented as the first critical reflection on using the framework beyond systematic reviews. DECIDE-SR developed a model for active involvement in systematic reviews. DECIDE-SR provides five involvement levels from receiving information to leading research processes. Steering group members can individually choose their degree of involvement at each study step based on interests, capabilities, and availability. The model lets coresearchers choose their preferred degree of involvement across multiple research stages. The Dementia Leaders programme builds on prior DZNE Witten projects, especially DECIDE-SR and PreBeDem.
