Higher hazard ratios correspond to faster discharge and shorter predicted LOS. Clinical Diagnosis Groups were ranked using a mixed-effects parametric survival model based on risk of prolonged LOS. The study mapped principal diagnosis codes to Clinical Diagnosis Groups to reduce complexity while preserving clinical meaning. A total of 12,145 ICD-10-AM codes appeared as principal diagnoses in the study population.
