Tutorial videos and smartphone applications were viewed as practical low-barrier supports for physicians. Wearables had the strongest engagement among the digital tool options and were viewed as useful for prompting breaks from sitting. Computer software was used least, possibly because it was less mobile and less relevant to participants who were not office workers; by 6 months no participants reported daily use. The review will map tool types, technological components, and how they relate to motivation, adherence, and physical activity outcomes rather than test causal effectiveness. Many digital tools include gamification, defined as game-design elements used outside game contexts.
