Work participation and disability benefit receipt were not treated as opposite ends of one scale. Every positive health dimension was significantly related to disability benefit receipt in bivariate analyses, although not every individual variable was significant. Adding disorder subgroup classification further improved the model explaining disability benefit receipt. Worse complaints and functioning were associated with a higher likelihood of receiving disability benefit.
