Disclosure can produce positive outcomes including empowerment, authenticity, better connection, and improved rapport. The review found fewer benefit-related codes than codes about harms or barriers. Disclosure may lead to harassment, gossip, hostility, microaggressions, relationship loss, or employment loss. Cisheterosexism may persist after disclosure through stereotyping and othering of LGBTQ+ staff.
