Disease-Modifying Therapy

Nusinersen, risdiplam, and onasemnogene abeparvovec have demonstrated efficacy as disease-modifying therapies for SMA. Drug therapy can prolong life expectancy and optimize functional performance in SMA. Patients may still have residual motor, respiratory, postural, and other functional challenges despite pharmacological treatment.
