Dutch Neonatal Care System

Multi-stay pathways, especially among very preterm neonates, were much longer than straightforward MCN admissions. Patient transfers include acute escalation and back-transfer after stabilization. The modeled Southwest region included one NICU, four HCN wards, and six MCN wards. Dutch neonatal care is organized into NICU, HCN, and MCN levels.
