Efficient conditioning is presented as the structural property that determines compatibility with pseudo-observation batch selection. The interaction between efficient conditioning and hyperparameter adaptation is not formally analyzed. Efficient conditioning is defined by fast or closed-form prediction updates after adding a new observation. The theoretical analysis assumes fixed kernel hyperparameters during batch construction. Efficient conditioning predicts which surrogate classes work with pseudo-observation batch selection before running a full optimization loop.
