Environmental Enrichment

VISIBLE is based on activity-dependent learning, environmental enrichment, and optimisation of early visual experience. Parents and caregivers are treated as the most important part of the infant's enriched environment. The vision-aware approach requires clinicians to understand functional vision and adapt environments to help children use their visual capabilities. Developmentally appropriate play is delivered near the infant's performance limit and becomes more varied and complex as skills emerge. Parents are coached to use goal-directed strategies supporting visual learning, movement, communication, and social interaction.
