Epidural Analgesia

Epidural analgesia is described as the most effective and commonly used pharmaceutical method for labour pain management in China. China has relatively low labour epidural analgesia utilisation, generally estimated between 10% and 20%. About one quarter of the final study respondents reported epidural analgesia use during a previous vaginal delivery. Limited access to effective labour pain relief may be linked to China's high caesarean delivery rate. Epidural analgesia was the study's main exposure and was defined by previous use during vaginal birth for women or the respondent's wife for men.
