The study used a systematic random sample of 405 adult patients. The sampling frame consisted of 3,468 diabetes patients across the participating hospitals. The study was an institution-based cross-sectional study in five public hospitals in Addis Ababa. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews and analysed with SPSS v27. The five hospitals were selected because they had specialised diabetes care units and high patient volumes.
